The Youth Opportunity Center School offers a wide range of educational opportunities for children from grades 2 to 12. Educational programs are available to all children who live on the campus. Students may live in the TASC unit, be placed in detention or live in 1 of 8 cottages, but they all have access to some type of education by High Qualified Teachers that work for the Muncie Community Schools.
The YOC School also contains the Delaware County's Priority School. Priority School is an alternative to suspension and expulsion program for students in grades 6 to 12. On any secondary student's 2nd multiple day suspension the student is assigned to attend Priority School. Work is sent by the home school and a licensed teacher helps students on the work while they attend class.
As the needs of the community have changed over time the YOC has adapted and grown to meet those needs. As those changes have taken place the educational opportunities of students have been met by the school programs at the YOC. Whether it is a small structured classroom environment or an alternative to suspension classroom the YOC school is here to meet the needs of a variety of students.
